Ethnoarchaeological insights from post-earthquake Bam City.

Thirty five days after the drastic earthquake of 25 December 2003, we started an ethnoarchaeology and contemporary archaeology project in Bam city (SE Iran). During eight years of studying Bam, we interviewed more than 5000 individuals, documented 37000 graves, excavated 6 ruined houses and published articles and books in notable journals.

Our topics in Bam were classified into five categories of graveyards, material culture, exchange and markets, domestic architecture and population replacement. Though considering architectural debris and abandoned material culture in Bam, we practiced investigating modern waste for the the first time in our carrier.
